"The Rose" is a pop song written by Amanda McBroom and made famous by Bette Midler, who performed it in the 1979 movie ‘The Rose’ Since then it has been covered by a variety of artists.
Amanda McBroom began to write the song whilst driving home listening to ‘Magdelena’ written by Danny O’Keefe (sung by Leo Sayer) The song contains the line ‘Your love is like a razor’ She didn’t like this line and imagined what could sound better. She came up with several version’s of the line. These lines became the starting point for “The Rose”
We have seven versions of “The Rose” for both male and female singers. This beautiful standard would be a great addition to any set. Enjoy!
